I found this book for a love interest (who had been separated for 2 years and who was contemplating filing for a final divorce). I finally read the book after his breakup with me. This book made me realize that I was his "rebound" relationship that was simply intended to him feel wanted and worthy, and the relationship wasn't meant to be long-term; it was simply to help him with his climb up his healing mountain. We were both at different levels of our mountain tops; I WAS at my mountain top (from my divorce) and he still needed to reach his before he was ready to get into another meaningful relationship again. This book really made me feel much better about the breakup. Happily, I am once again almost to my mountain top (after this breakup) and I know once I reach it, I'll be healed and ready to begin my life again. :)
I took the Rebuilders seminar which used this book as a text, along with some other source materials. I found it amazingly helpful, and full of good explanations while it walks you through the different emotions that tear you apart. It takes you through the process of coping with your divorce from the beginning through the healing process. Unfortunately the class itself was only 10 weeks long, so it is not possible to thoroughly process through the entire book in 10 weeks, but I will be re-reading it for months to come as I work through this. It forces you to look into yourself, and accept your part in the divorce, but offers great advice for nurturing yourself and making the next relationship a healthy one.
This book changed my life. I did it with a group in my church and this book helped me so much getting through my difficult divorce. It's like they knew my life and what I was going through. If you need help getting through this difficult time in your life, BUY this book! It works!

The wisdom and kindness of the author (and editors) saved me years of struggling and set me on a path to a powerful new life.
This is one of the better books in helping you get past a relationship fallout. Especially for one of many years. As with any self help books some areas are more pertinent than others but it does hit a lot of what you go through and talks about what the kids are going through too and how you can help them, even when they are older.
This is a fantastic book to give people who we love (or for ourselves). I read it a couple times after breakups. Now that I'm happily married, I give it to friends to soothe their hearts and get them on the right track.
This book was very helpful when going through a divorce. Was used in a support group. Loaned it so many times it fell apart. Recently purchased for someone who is separated.
I used this book about 30 years ago for myself followed by leading divorce support groups for a number of years using this along with other materials. I recently bought the updated version for more of that volunteer work. While I don't agree with all that is said in the book I think it is very helpful to people who are divorced or divorcing.
